Be a Laughing Calm Person

Who had a freak out on the internet? I DID!
Who Feels like they are alive again? I do!

How did that happen:
1. Food
2. Breathing, choosing to notice thoughts without engaging in them, emptying my mind, closing my eyes, focusing on what my senses pick up (my hand felt the soft blanket, for example)
3. Writing and reading comments

I just called Jane to tell her she was a genius. I was like "Hello, Ms. Genius. I hereby present you with the Genius award because, as you know, I just was freaking out about the fact that I couldn't eat (I called her and left a "I can't do this!!!!!" message) and, as we both know, becoming more and more anxious about not being able to eat does NOT help the problem... so then i thought to myself, "What would she make me do if I was having this reaction in a session? She would make us do a "Mindfulness Minute." And so... I did. I did a mindfulness minute. And - holler - I feel so much better! And then I felt calm! And then I could eat! So I ate about half (almost) of a sweet potato and some veggies. And your mindfulness minute saved the day. So, this is proof, YOU are a genius. So, Genius, hope you're having a nice day. Talk to you tomorrow!"

Note to self: Not eating enough increases anxiety. Anxiety increases not wanting to eat. SEe how this gets me nowhere?

Another note to self: Not eating enough increases anxiety. Thinking of neurons stimulates humor and laughing. Being mindful promotes calm. Laughing Calm People know how to eat. Anxious people do not.

Be a laughing, calm person, y'all.

Deal?
Deal.

  3. You're so right--it's just a vicious cycle with not eating and anxiety! Good for you getting through this!

  4. I am so glad the great jane reminds you to be mindful. For me, this has been the absolute key to living a healthy, full life. I'm not perfect, but I am getting better and better. I have a book to recommend, if you have time. It is by one of my favorite people in the world, a buddhist monk and author named Thich Nhat Hanh- any of his books are absolutely awesome. But, I just got 'Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Living'- it's not meant for eating disorders, but is invaluable- try it!
Glad to hear you're doing well, for today. Today is all that matters right now!
