So.... I did the craziest thing I've done in a long time (for me) at breakfast today. I woke up and wasn't famished, but, about an hour after I got up, I realized that I judge hunger differently at different part of the day. For example, I was labeling my feeling "hungry but not that hungry" at 9am. If I had had that same feeling at 5pm I would have labeled it as "very hungry....if I go for much longer without eating, I'll be extremely hungry." Just an observation.
I couldn't decide what to eat for breakfast. Eggs or oatmeal? Eggs worked out nicely for me yesterday but I didn't want to just eat eggs... it seemed unsatisfying without an English muffin or toast. But for whatever reason the thought of eating an english muffin did not appeal to me, and I didn't have toast. But then I was thinking about how healthy oats are for you. So maybe I should have oatmeal? But eggs are healthy too. Then I thought, I could have both! Is that too crazy? In the recent past, I would NEVER have eaten both of these things at once for breakfast. This is a breakfast that plenty of regular breakfast eaters don't even eat. My parents are healthy, normal eaters and they don't eat oatmeal AND eggs. (They do eat eggs and toast though.) IThere's something called an Oatmeal Pancake or something. I forget exactly how you make it, but it involves mixing egg and oats together and then treating that mixture as pancake batter. Anyway, I made that once a couple of years ago and could not deal afterward! The fact that I had eaten an egg AND a packet of oatmeal was just too much to fathom! It sent me spiraling out of control. But today... I ended up eating TWO WHOLE EGGS and a packet of oatmeal... and you know how I felt? Satisfied. Full in a good way. Healthy. AND REALLY EXCITED AND ENERGETIC BECAUSE OF HOW EXCITED/NORMAL I FELT. True, I did count calories. But still. This was a very good breakfast and I'm pretty sure Tracy is going to pee her pants when she sees I ate this.
okay on to the rest of my day....

i like what i'm hearing! just fyi, my dad is a big oatmeal eater and we often have oatmeal and hardboiled eggs (sometimes mashed with butter/ margarine) as a weekday breakfast.
ReplyDeleteright now i'm on the bus back from dc drinking a chai tea latte from starbucks, and I have to admit that i never get the flavored lattes because of a little sugar-phobia that i inherited from my mom. (she actually thinks she's allergic to sugar. organic honey or agave nectar is ok though. i'm like, what do you think is in honey, mom? or fruit for that matter?) anyway it's pretty good! and i'm trying to set an example for my little sis who i was visiting!
Good job, DO well the rest of the Day! Dont restrict your body was hungry for it. Keep going!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bluecat and EA!!! I really really appreciate the encouragement. It makes me really motivated to see you two excited by this!
ReplyDelete:D That's awesome of you! I really had almost the same experience as you...I wanted oatmeal...but I figured I needed more, espically protein...so I had 1/2 cup of this tofu scramble...added soymilk to my oats. Delish! Three cheers!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Bluecat, if you ever read this...my Mom is the exact same way about sugar!! She even eats agave nectar instead...weeird.
HEATHER, GO YOU!!! HIGH FIVE, CHICA!!!! That tofu scramble sounds freaking delicious.
ReplyDeleteUm, is it bad that I have 3 different kinds of soy milk in my fridge? Lol. I like soy milk too.
Seriously, way to go! I'm so glad you ate the tofu scramble with your oatmeal; it makes me very happy :) That was a very healthy thing to do! (healthy does not equal fat-inducing... just a reminder for us both!)
